Self-awareness or consciousness?
Do I need self-awareness?
Does self-awareness mean consciousness?
No! Self-awareness is not the same as consciousness!
Then, what exactly is self-awareness?
Self-awareness according to Wikipedia, is the capacity for
introspection and the ability to recognize oneself as an individual separate
from the environment and other individuals. While consciousness is being aware
of one's environment and body and lifestyle, self-awareness is the recognition
of that awareness.
Being self-aware is simply being aware of yourself – of who
you are.
How? By paying attention to yourself and things you do or
like to do.
I hope this is clearer now because people do assume that self-awareness
and consciousness are the same.
Do you have self-awareness?
To be able to answer this question, you need to answer this
question sincerely, do you feel in control of yourself? Are you able the one
who take decisions on what you do or you only go with what others feel?
If your answer is in the affirmative then you are and if
not, you need to begin your journey to self-awareness.
Self-awareness gives you a right to happiness and
satisfaction.
Only when you have self-awareness can you develop a healthy self-esteem
and build your confidence.
